The Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center serving children with special needs from birth to six years of age. Laps for Little Ones is the longest-running annual fundraiser at the Little Light House, and has been an annual event for 31 years. Runners who compete at Laps for Little Ones raise money to help Little Light House students continue to receive tuition free therapy and special education services. Greetings from the Mitchell Family!
We are so excited to be approaching our 33rd annual Little Light House Laps for Little Ones fundraiser! It’s hard to believe that the Little Light House has been thriving now for 38 years! We feel abundantly blessed to have been able to be there from the very beginning of this wonderful work of God and witness His hand constantly working on behalf of these special little ones!
It seems like yesterday when Missy was once one of those little ones who played and learned under the loving care of the first Little Light House teacher. We firmly believe she would not be where she is today had it not been for the early intervention she received at LLH.
Phil is involved as a volunteer on a regular basis and also serves on the Board of Directors as he has since the beginning. Marcia is still actively involved full time as the CEO of the LLH. As you can see, we as a family are passionately involved in this vital ministry to these precious little ones.
It costs approximately $17,000 per year to provide the specialized services for just one child. The Little Light House receives no government funding, no United Way assistance and no third party re-imbursements. In addition, to avoid adding to the financial devastation most parents experience as a result of having a child with special needs, we also do not charge tuition.
One of the ways LLH helps to offset operating costs is through the upcoming Laps for Little Ones fundraiser! This year, Missy is going to be the Mitchell family designated runner for Laps! Sponsorships can be made by either individuals or by corporations and can be fixed pledges or “amount per lap†sponsorships. Before you choose to sponsor per lap, you might want to know that Missy won the prize for “Most Laps Run†in her age category for the last 2 years when she ran 5 miles! We would be so grateful if you would like to sponsor our family this year for Laps for Little Ones so that the LLH can continue to provide services that make such a vast difference in so many lives! Our personal fundraising goal is $10,000! We would be thrilled with any part you are able to contribute toward that goal.
