The Little Light House is a Christian Developmental Center serving children with special needs from birth to six years of age. Laps for Little Ones is the longest-running annual fundraiser at the Little Light House, and has been an annual event for 31 years. Runners who compete at Laps for Little Ones raise money to help Little Light House students continue to receive tuition free therapy and special education services. As a Board member at the Little Light House, I’d like to tell you a little bit about this exceptional organization that I am blessed to be a part of!
Since 1972 The Little Light House has been committed to excellence in providing highly individualized services to children with special needs. Funding sources for these services include donations from Foundations, Corporations, Fundraisers, Civic Organizations, and private individuals.
Unquestionably the needs are great and the equipment, supplies and expertise required to address these needs are expensive. But the benefits are priceless when you consider the milestones occurring daily which are defying medical prognoses. To give a child the gift of communication is to give a child the freedom to make choices, express feelings, and interact with their world. To give a child the gift of moving about independently means providing them with a way to play with peers and gain a sense of independence. Every child deserves the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential. These children are no exception. They simply need more assistance to enable them to do so. With the help of the community, The Little Light House is providing that assistance and in the process dramatically improving the quality of life for these children and their families.
Laps for Little Ones is one of four major fundraisers The Little Light House holds each year. I will be running for these precious little ones on Saturday, October 24th at the Cascia Hall track. A donation from you in the form of sponsoring me will help keep the wonderful ministry of The Little Light House going so that these special little ones can continue to receive these vitally important services!
