For the past 25 years, MiniLaps has been one of the largest fundraisers at The Little Light House annually. Families of the LLH students will raise money for their child’s year at school. This year, MiniLaps will be held September 25th, 2010 at The Little Light House. Please help our children by making a donation and help them meet their goal! Hi my name is Matthew Adamson, and I am 3 years old. This year I am starting school at The Little Lighthouse. TLLH is a school that started many years ago for children with special needs. There is a long waiting list to get into this school, and I have been on the list for quite some time. I am lucky to have been chosen to attend this year. The Little Lighthouse is a very important and very much needed school. The teachers and staff are very dedicated to enriching the lives of the children that attend. To demonstrate how committed the staff is at The Little Lighthouse, all potential employees sign a statement indicating they understand and agree to a policy called “check upon request” which means the TLLH will always pay overhead expenses first and the staff will be paid with whatever funds remain, thus ensuring that only the most dedicated people are hired. TLLH is a tuition free school, but it does take a substantial amount of money to keep it open. The staff consists of licensed speech pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, a registered nurse, a low vision therapist, certified special educational teachers and experienced associates. Then you have basic expenses of running a school, such as utilities, enviromental services, and the like. All that aside, the Mini Laps is the biggest fundraiser every year. It is a time when we all celebrate the milestones that each child has met during their time at TLLH. Each child takes one lap around the track dressed to fit the theme of the year. Some children will go around the track using walkers, wheelchairs, or wagons that have been transformed into floats, and some children will walk, or run on their own two feet. I know not everyone can afford to donate lots of money but if we could have all our friends donate what they can even if its just one dollar and then have their friends donate a dollar and their friends, and so on, That would add up! just think what one dollar can do. You will me reach my full potential because I will be getting the early intervention needed to help me develop to my maximum potential. One hundred percent of every dollar (that means 100 pennies) goes to TLLH. Be sure to click my name Matthew Adamson so your donation will be associated with my fundraising efforts. Pay it forward and help me be the best I can be!
