For the past 25 years, MiniLaps has been one of the largest fundraisers at The Little Light House annually. Families of the LLH students will raise money for their child’s year at school. This year, MiniLaps will be held September 25th, 2010 at The Little Light House. Please help our children by making a donation and help them meet their goal! Hi Everybody!

My name is Dylan Schatz and, If you don't know me and love me already, I am an adorable four year old with autism. I can't communicate with you verbally, although I am very bright and I know what you are saying to me and about me, even though you think I am not listening! I wanted to tell you about my school, The Little Light House. It's wonderful! I run into school everyday to see my teacher Miss Heather and I can't wait for praise and worship time when I get to practice signing with the lyrics. Did you know that The Little Light House is a school for kids with special needs, just like me? There's even a long list of kids waiting to come to my school...that's how wonderful it is! We have special teachers and therapists to help us learn what we need to know. Some of us need special equipment to help us learn and we all love the toys made especially for kids like us. Everyone is so nice and we have lots of fun together. I wish everyone could go to a school like mine.

It cost lots of money to get all the things we need at our school. Some schools make the moms and dads pay for school...but not mine! I get to go there for free! This is especially important for me, because insurance will not cover therapies such as speech and some occupational therapy for children like me with autism. My school doesn't get any money from the government or United Way. All of the money we get comes from individual and corporate donors. Some grown ups think it's so amazing that all of the money comes from private donations. I think they are right.

I'm too little to have a job to give money, but I can still help my school! The big people get to run in "Laps for Little Ones", but since I am still small, my school has "Mini-Laps" race that I can do! I get to go around the track at my school one time. My friends will be there too. Some of us will run or walk, some will ride bikes or scooters. Some of my friends get to ride in their wheelchairs or in a wagon. It is so much fun, I hope you can come and watch me on September 26th!

I need people to sponsor me when I make my lap, so I can help my school. If you would like to make a donation for me, click on the "donate now" link. If you want you can give my parents a check (made out to TLLH) before Tuesday September 22nd. You can also send it in the mail with my name on the memo line. Because my school is a 501(C) organizaiton, your contribution is tax deductible...whatever that means!

Thank you very much for supporting my school! They have done so much for me!

Love, Dylan Schatz
