For the past 25 years, MiniLaps has been one of the largest fundraisers at The Little Light House annually. Families of the LLH students will raise money for their child’s year at school. The Little Light House is a non-profit Christian developmental center that serves children with special needs from birth to six years old. With no government funding, they rely 100% on the community for donations to operate. With your donation to MiniLaps, you can help a child reach their maximum potential.
Dear Friends & Family,
We just wanted to keep in touch and thank you all for your prayers and support during the last few years since Andrew was born. He is now 4 years old and we are so thankful for God’s healing . He was born prematurely on January 14th 2005, weighing only 1.4 pounds, and spent the first four months of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit. He is now over 27 pounds and is outrunning both of us!
This is Andrew's 2nd year at LLH and he has grown so much in all his skills ~ communication, social development, speech, everything. He LOVES school ~ his teachers, therapists, and the other students in his class. All the teachers/therapists are licensed professionals in their field, and work at the Little Light House with the understanding that their salary is contingent upon the donations the school receives each month. They are the most dedicated and loving staff we have ever experienced, anywhere.
They are able to serve approximately 64 children with developmental delays each year, and their only funding is through private donations and sponsorships from the community. They do not charge the parents tuition because they know that having a child with special needs is challenging and expensive.
The biggest fund-raising event that the school has is coming up on September 26th, 2009. It is called “Mini-Laps” and Andrew will be running a mini-lap to raise funds for this next school-year. We INVITE you to attend this fun day with us and watch Andrew shine! We are so proud of him and are amazed at his accomplishments and growth.
Each family at the school has made a goal to raise $5000.00 for Mini-Laps. The school-wide fund-raising goal is $350,000.00 because a large matching grant that LLH has relied upon every year to help them maintain services was not granted this year. They need our help to continue operating and serving so many wonderful children.
