For the past 25 years, MiniLaps has been one of the largest fundraisers at The Little Light House annually. Families of the LLH students will raise money for their child’s year at school. This year, MiniLaps will be held September 25th, 2010 at The Little Light House. Please help our children by making a donation and help them meet their goal! The Little Light House is a non-profit Christian developmental center that serves children with special needs from birth to six years old. With no government funding, they rely 100% on the community for donations to operate. With your donation to MiniLaps, you can help a child reach their maximum potential.
Hello Everybody, Kyle Here!
I go to school at The Little Light House…did you know that? I bet you did. My parents like to tell everyone about my school, but now it’s my turn to tell you all the great things about The Little Light House. Did you know that it is a school for kids with special needs, just like me? The grown-ups say it’s real important for us to start learning early. There’s even a list of kids waiting to come to my school…that’s how great it is. We have special teachers and therapists that help us learn what we need to know. Some of us need special equipment to help us learn and we all love the toys made especially for kids like us. Everyone is so nice and we have lots of fun together. I wish everyone could go to a school like mine.
It costs a lot of money to get all the things we need at our school. Some schools make the moms and dads pay for school…but not mine! I get to go there for free! My school doesn’t get any money from the government or United Way. All of the money we get comes from individual and corporate donors. Some grown-ups think it’s so amazing that all of the money comes from private donations. I think they are right.
I’m too little to have a job to give money, but I can still help my school! The big people get to run in “Laps for Little Onesâ€, but since I am still small, my school has a “Mini-Laps†race that I can do. I get to go around the track at my school one time. My friends will be there, too. Some of us will run or walk, some will ride bikes or scooters. Some of my friends get to ride in their wheelchairs or in a wagon. It is so much fun, I hope you can come and watch me on September 26!
I need people to sponsor me when I make my lap, so I can help my school. If you would like to make a donation, you can click on the "donate now" link or give a check to my parents (made out to TLLH) before Tuesday, September 22nd. You can also send it in the mail. Make sure you tell them my name so they will know that you are sponsoring me. Because my school is a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution is tax deductible…whatever that means!
Thank you very much for supporting my school! Kyle
